Street contributes to the entire community by preserving the quality of
life and aesthetic values that are so much a part of what makes a city unique.
The Main Street Project is concerned with keeping the downtown area the
heart of the community-a place of historic significance, a place to shop
and eat, a place to do business, and most of all, a place to have fun and

The mission of the Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce is to establish and promote a strong economic environment, assist in the creation and retention of jobs, and support such programs, activities, legislation and similar endeavors as deemed appropriate and necessary to achieve these goals. The Chamber is an effective voice for Minden businesses. The Chamber is active in working with the City, State and Federal governments to ensure the best possible climate for new and expanding business opportunities. AMERICAN LEGION The American Legion is comprised of community-minded individuals working to preserve the memories and incidents of our associations in the great wars, to inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation and to consecrate and sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness. AMERICAN LEGION WOMEN'S AUXILIARY The American Legion Women's Auxiliary supports all American Legion activities as well as sponsors the Girl's State students from local high schools. CIVITAN CLUB The Civitan Club supports the Civitan International Research Center for Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities and Youth Citizenship Seminars. This club sponsors the Key Club at Minden High School and the Builder Club at Phillips Elementary and Webster Jr. High Schools. They support the Shots for Tots Program, the Pregnancy Aid Center and gives out food baskets for needy. Call 318-371-0551 for more information. MINDEN DOWNTOWN BUSINESS ASSOCIATIONThe Downtown Business Association membership includes businesses throughout the historic commercial district. Marketing a positive, unified image for shopping, dining and doing business is a primary goal of the DBA. The group co-sponsors special events in downtown. For more information, call 318-371-4258. MINDEN LIONS CLUB The local Minden (noon) Lions Club supports a city baseball team, Boys/Girls State, Boy Scouts of America, Louisiana Eye Foundation and Children's Camp, Louisiana Eye Bank, and the United Christian Assistance Program. The club sponsors a Chicken Charbroil fundraiser twice a year and the Pancake Supper at the last Minden High School home game annually. |

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY This organization works to promote awareness and find a cure for breast cancer. FAMILY COMMUNITY EDUCATORS This group sponsors 4-H Clubs, Parish Fair Arts and Crafts and offers "Children in the Middle" classes every other month for children in divorce situations. HOSPITAL VOLUNTEER MEDICAL WOMEN'S AUXILIARY The duties of these volunteers are to greet visitors, assist with check-out, hand deliver magazines and newspapers, perform blood pressure tests, file paperwork and help with mail-outs. JUNIOR SERVICE LEAGUE This group of volunteers maintains the Girl Scout Hut and sponsors events such as Angel Tea and the Fall Fundraiser Dinner. For Contributions call Col LAndry at 504-278-8017 xt 8235 "Enjoy Freedom Today, Thank A Soldier" Minden Historic Residential District and Minden Historic Residential Association: Minden Historic Residential District This area is a protected area that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This area of Minden is recognized both nationally and locally as an area of extreme importance for historic preservation. This organization was formed to protect the area of historic homes in Minden, La. Minden was incorporated 1850, when Webster Parish was created from Claiborne Parish. Minden became the parish seat in 1871. November 5, 1992 the area around the original parallelogram encompassing 71 buildings was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1993 the Minden Historic Residential Association formed. On October 29th, 2007 area was officially recognized by the city of Minden and Mayor Bill Robertson. Protective ordnances were created and a Historic Commission appointed in 2008 for future protection and preservation. This group of homeowners provides tours of homes during certain times of the year and cares for the historic parks and homes in this defined area. Mission StatementThe purpose of the Minden, Louisiana Historic Residential District Association shall be to promote a sense of community for our neighborhood while preserving and protecting this area in the manner that it deserves by retaining and enhancing its original historical integrity; forge working relationships with the City; foster civic participation; promote beautification and pride in the neighborhood; maintain, enhance, and encourage quality housing that reinforces the character and charm of our historic neighborhood; and provide a focal point for all neighborhood issues that may affect our residents. ST. JUDE ANNUAL FUNDRAISER OF MINDEN Minden is
known for its unselfish dedication to the St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital. Each January/February, the Minden St. Jude Auction is held in connection
with the Minden Medical Center Chili and Gumbo Cook-Off. Hundreds of thousands
are raised for the children of St. Jude. |

TOWN & COUNTRY GARDEN CLUB This garden group works diligently with the State to address local environmental issues and help each year with the Christmas lighting at Turner's Pond.
