Picture This! Photography Show
City Art Works
701 Main Street
Minden, LA
May 24 through July 31, 2012
Minden City Arts announces the opening of “Picture This!” Photography Show on May 24th. The show features three local area photography enthusiasts, Robin Kemp, Timmie McEachern
and Keith Johnson.
Robin Kemp has been studying the art of photography for six years. She realized that she had an eye for photography while photographing her son. Robin says, “What draws me to photography is capturing a moment in time. People’s personalities shine through as their images are captured, the emotions in someone’s eyes, and the character of the lines in their face.” Kemp lives in Sibley and is married to Webster Parish Sheriff’s Department Investigator, Tommy Kemp. Kemp’s photography subjects range from equine photography to an inspirational prayer series.
Photographer Timmie McEachern admits “I’m a lover of nature and all things outdoors, enjoying all of my Father’s creations. I am having a ball trying to capture it all.” Timmie’s subject matter ranges
from flowers to old cars to old churches. McEachern grew up in Minden and manages Neta’s B-B-Q. He is a member of the Shreveport Photographic Society and the Minden First United Pentecostal Church. He also composes songs and poems.
Keith Johnson has lived in Minden since he got out of the Army in 1968, shortly after he bought his first 35mm camera in Heidelberg, Germany. Johnson says, “ I have thousands of pictures
and slides of people, places and things.” He has captured many images from his travels in Louisiana and other states throughout the United States. Photography has been a hobby, but he hopes to develop it into a profession. Johnson has been married to Rose Ann Johnson for 43 years. Mrs. Johnson is the librarian at Webster Junior High School.
“City Art Works is thrilled to show the work of three very talented photographers,” says Bill Cook, assistant director, “each photographer is unique and has captured the world through different eyes."
The photography show will open on May 24th from 5 until 7 inthe evening with an artist’s reception. The public is invited to attend. The show will hang at the Art Works gallery through the month of July and is free to the public. City Art Works is the cultural recreation program for the City of Minden. It is located in the heart of downtown inden at 701 Main Street.
